Control horse (C2) has detectable EHV 5 antigen within scattered alveolar macrophages (arrowhead). EHV 5 infected horses (B) had detectable EHV 5 antigen within the nodules of fibrosis, including the honeycomb epithelial cells (arrow), interstitial fibroblasts, and macrophages.
