Table I.

Amplitude and Coherence in Mo vs. ME spindles. MEG and EEG amplitude, and MEG coherence, were calculated for spindles appearing in both MEG and EEG (ME) versus those appearing only in MEG (Mo). Calculations were made either by first averaging the results within each of the 7 subjects and then comparing across subjects (upper panel), or by comparing all 254 ME spindles to all 283 Mo spindles (lower panel). Calculations in each panel were repeated using all channels, only the ‘active channels’ for each spindle, or the 5 channels with the largest spindle activity in each spindle. Results were highly consistent in all comparisons.
