Experimental protocol: Mice received four i.p. injections of either OVA solution (20 μg per mouse) or saline (0.5 mL per mouse) on days 0, 14, 28 and 42. From day 21 to 51, mice were challenged with OVA nebulization (1%) or saline (three times per week, for 30 min). During the period of challenge, mice were treated with AVE (1 mg·kg⁻¹, s.c.) or saline. The animals were killed 72 h after the last challenge (at day 54).
