First ten highest-ranking configurations are shown for (a,b) two, (c,d) three, (e,f) four and (g,h) five players. The model is first run for 5 × 10⁷ steps, after which configurations are recorded every 5 × 10⁶ steps for a total of 20 recordings. Frequencies belonging to mirror-symmetric and rotationally symmetric configurations are averaged and reported for one configuration arbitrarily chosen from the symmetry class. Colour coding as in Fig. 1. Other parameters: m=10 and b−1=0.7, p=0.1, c=20 (high temptation; a,c,e,g) or b−1=0.1, p=0.3, c=6.67 (low temptation, b,d,f,h).
