Cells were transfected with either pCMV-Myc-UL105 (Myc-UL105) or pCMV-UL105 (UL105) and then infected with HCMV, stained with anti-Myc or anti-UL105, respectively, and visualized using a confocal microscope (Olympus FV1000). The experimental procedures are described in Materials and Methods. The values shown are the means ± standard deviations of three independent experiments. We examined 150 cells in each experiment, with a total of 450 cells examined in the three experiments. The values of standard deviations that were less than 5% are not shown.
