Impact of NaCl on the growth of three P. syringae strains, B728a, 1448A, and DC3000, and one P. aeruginosa strain, PAO1. Bacteria were grown in ½21C medium amended with 0 to 1 M NaCl at 0.1-M intervals (see Fig. S2 in the supplemental material). The time required for each strain to reach its maximal growth rate at a given NaCl concentration was determined, and these values were fitted into a modified Gompertz model.
