The LysM domains of LytN and Sle1 bind uniformly to the envelope of the Δlcp mutant. Purified mCherry, LysMLytN-mCherry, or LysMSle1-mCherry was incubated with wild-type parent (strains RN4220 and MSSA 1112), ΔtagO mutant, or Δlcp mutant staphylococci.
