Adhesion on integrin substrates confers resistance to doxorubicin in Jurkat T cells. (A) Jurkat T cells were plated on dishes coated with GST-CS1, GST-Fn9.11, or GST and left untreated or treated with 0.05 μg/ml doxorubicin for 48 h. The data plotted are the percentage of cells that were apoptotic, based on flow cytometry determination of Cy5-annexin V binding. Data are means ± standard deviations (n = 3). *, P < 0.001. (B) JB4 (lacking α4) or JB4-α4 (reconstituted with α4 expression) cells were plated on GST-CS1-coated dishes and left untreated or treated with doxorubicin at 0.03 or 0.06 μg/ml for 48 h. The data plotted are the percentage of cells that were apoptotic, based on flow cytometry determination of Cy5-annexin V binding. Data are means ± standard deviations (n = 3). *, P < 0.02; **, P < 0.05.
