A, RT-PCR analysis of the transcript levels of At5g62080, At5g07230, and At5g52160 in flowers of progressive developmental stages. Actin was used as a normalization control. B, Subanther localization of At5g62080 and At5g07230 in anthers of stage 7 flowers of plants transformed with the promoter of the respective genes attached to GFP. At this developmental stage, transcripts of the two genes peaked (A). LTP-GFP (pseudocolored in green) was located in the tapetum. Chlorophyll autofluorescence (magenta) shows the other cells. The locule and its included tetrads did not show fluorescence and appeared dark. Scale bars are in μm.
