Absorption spectra of point mutants. Agp2 wild type and mutants were purified as apoproteins and assembled with BV. After a 16-h dark incubation, free chromophore was removed from the protein, and spectra were recorded. Samples were then irradiated with red light (655 nm, 300 μm m−2 s−1) for 60 s, measured, irradiated with far-red light (780 nm, 1000 μm m−2 s−1) for 60 s, and measured again.
