(B) The percent of inflamed blood vessels in the liver was quantified in H&E-stained tissue sections; the proportion of inflamed vessels from two tissue levels is shown. (C) Lung inflammation was quantified based on the number of inflammatory foci present in two tissue levels. (D) The hematocrit values in each of the indicated gene-deficient sf mice measured on either day 21 (Stat6−/− mice) or day 24 (all other strains). Each symbol represents data from an individual mouse. At least four mice of each genotype were analyzed over at least three separate experiments; the horizontal bar represents the mean; *, p<0.05; **, p<0.01; ***, p<0.001 determined using ANOVA, with a post hoc Dunnett’s test comparing the gene-deficient sf mice to sf mice (A–C).
