Action potentials of individual neurons were identified using the WaveClus algorithm in the MER signal. The instantaneous firing rate (IFR) was then estimated by convolving a series of extracted action potentials generated by a single neuron with a causal kernel function. Finally, the IFR was correlated with the eye movement kinematic parameters derived from the EOG.
