Cytosol was defined as (cellular area—nuclear area—lipid area).

P < 0.05. The number of mitochondria per μm² was significantly less while the mitochondria size as well as mitochondria as a percent of cytosolic area was significantly greater in the KD group compared to the chow group. The number of lipid droplets was significantly greater while the size of the lipid droplets was significantly less in the BAT from the KD group.
