Skin, lung, heart, and kidney samples from mice were removed, fixed, paraffin-embedded, sectioned, and stained with Masson's trichrome. Collagen staining appears in blue. Compare the thickness of the collagen-containing dermal layer and the hypodermal or superficial fascia layer (shown in red brackets) beneath the panniculus carnosus in the skin. The age of the mice ranged between 23 and 27 weeks. Magnification is 200x.
