Cannabinoid/endocannabinoid signaling impacts various pregnancy events. Maternal use of natural and synthetic cannabinoids disturbs pregnancy events including preimplantation embryo development, oviductal embryo transport, implantation, and placentation. Although there is no direct evidence available to show that synthetic cannabinoids compromise decidualization or parturition, studies in CB1 knockout mice suggest both of them are potential targets of synthetic cannabinoids ((Wang et al., 2008) and unpublished data).
