Frontal cortex and hippocampus mRNA expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines following Plasmodium berghei ANKA infection. C57BL/6 mice were intraperitoneally infected with 106 parasitized erythrocytes and control (non-infected) animals received the same volume of PBS (n = 5 per group). On day 5 post-infection (5 dpi) frontal cortex and hippocampus were collected for real time PCR analysis. Results use arbitrary units for the ratio of the target gene mRNA to the endogenous control, eukaryotic 18SmRNA. Statistical significance: *p < 0.05, **p < 0.01, ***p < 0.001.
