Hematoxylin and Eosin staining (A-C) and an immunohistochemical analysis specific for type I collagen (D-F) demonstrated that there were no signs of lung remodeling in HCD-fed pigs. The immunohistochemical staining specific for MAC387 showed a markedly increased number of macrophages in lungs from HCD-fed pigs (G, H, J). The treatment with atorvastatin dramatically reduced the number of infiltrating macrophages (I-J).
