Coupled FAD–reduction and styrene epoxidation reactions monitored by fluorescence. 10 μM SMOB and 10 μM NSMOA were reacted with 35 μM NADH and 250 μM styrene at 15 °C. Fluorescence was excited at 382 nm and emission monitored at 520 nm (red); the same reaction was also monitored by absorbance at 450 nm (blue). The increase in fluorescence corresponding to FAD C(4a)-hydroxide formation was fit with a rate constant of 49.7 ± 0.25 s−1, while the decrease in absorbance at 450 nm corresponding to FAD reduction was fit with a rate constant of 50.02 ± 1.72 s−1.
