Localization of ADORA1 in human islets. A: Confocal microscopy images show colocalization of ADORA1 with glucagon in most of the ADORA1-positive cells of nondiabetic control patients. Some ADORA1-positive cells did not colocalize with glucagon (arrows). The islets of AA+ individuals expressed less ADORA1 than controls (B), and long-term T1D patients had little or no ADORA1 staining (C).
