Alginate-encapsulated tumour cells assay. Alginate beads containing 1 × 105 tumour cells were implanted s.c. into the backs of athymic mice (four beads per mice). Mice treated with E10A or Ad-LacZ i.v. at 1 × 109 pfu, or/and docetaxel i.p. at 10 mg/kg once a week for 2 weeks. On day 15 after inoculation, beads were surgically removed. FITC-dextran was quantified. (A) Representative figures of alginate bead are shown. (B) FITC-dextran uptake of beads, Columns, mean ± S.D., *P < 0.001.
