Pneumonia was a common finding in our total patient population although of significantly greater prevalence in non-CM patients than CM patients, with both bronchopneumonia (A & C) and lobar pneumonia (B & D) found. The severity of the pneumonia was variable and, in many cases, was thought to be the primary cause of death (H&E, A & B 100×, C&D 200×).
