In the absence of cells, CM from uPA or Cont siRNA-transfected cells was incubated with plasminogen (5 μg·mL⁻¹) for 6 h (when plasmin activity was assessed). Plasminogen-naïve cells were then maintained in the plasminogen-treated CM for 48 h before cell enumeration. ^∧P < 0.05 compared to basal + control siRNA. ^*P < 0.05, ^**P < 0.01 compared to plasminogen + control siRNA (n = 4).
