The current decay kinetics contains fast and slow exponential components, representing unmodified and modified channels, respectively. The time dependence of the decrease in the fraction of total current contributed by the fast component, F F, provides the time constant for modification, τMTS. At the three times shown: F F = 0.85, 0.45 and 0.20. τF = 0.6 s; τS = 6 s; τMTS = 25 s; [MTSET] = 20 μM. HP −120 mV. Test potential −20 mV.
