Sequence conservation of G-quadruplex motifs in MECP2 pre-mRNA orthologs. Location-conserved G-quadruplexes (A, B, and D) in the vicinity of alternative splice sites have highly conserved motifs as well. A highly stable G-quadruplex (C) not found near an alternate splice site is relatively less well conserved. The guanine groups which form the G-tetrads are underlined.
