SepF recruits FtsZ to lipid membranes. Recruitment of FtsZ to liposomes was analyzed using sucrose gradient centrifugation. FtsZ was detected using Western blotting. The F126S mutation reduces SepF-FtsZ binding (4). The presence of GTP (+GTP) has no effect on lipid interaction. Liposomes were made from E. coli polar lipid extract.
