Two-dimensional crystallization of membrane proteins by slow dialysis. Purified membrane protein in a detergent solution of choice is mixed with detergent solubilized lipids. The detergent is then removed by slow dialysis, and as the detergent is removed, lipids begin to form membranes into which the protein is integrated. 2D crystals grow under certain conditions that are determined empirically.
