The migfilin C terminus is required and sufficient for focal adhesion targeting. A, schematic of the full-length migfilin protein with amino acid residues noted. Migfilin interacts with filamin and vasodilator-stimulated phosphoprotein via its N terminus and proline-rich region (P), respectively. B, NIH3T3 fibroblasts were transfected with GFP-migfilin full-length (WT), migfilin(1–85), or migfilin(86–373). The cells were replated on fibronectin, fixed, and endogenous vinculin and F-actin were stained to label focal adhesions and stress fibers, respectively.
