Expression of ATGL, the rate-limiting gene in lipolysis, was decreased in the high-fat diet (HFD) group, indicating inhibition of lipolysis induced by the high-fat diet. In contrast, increased expression of Forkhead box O1 (FoxO1), phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK) and glucose-6-phosphatase (G-6-Pase) was found in the HFD group, implying enhancement of gluconeogenesis.
