mcDC have a larger subset of small, high-intensity particle of irradiated islet cells than CD11b⁺DC. Representative composite images from pooled cDC (CD11bDC and CD8DC) and mcDC fed irradiated CFSE-labeled islet cells. A pool of CD11bDC, CD8DC and mcDC from NOD were exposed to irradiated islet cells in vitro and then purified and transferred (5 × 10⁵) to 4-week-old NOD recipients.
