Multi­pollutant-mixture exposure improved recovery of post­ischemic cardiac function and reduced size of infarct in murine hearts. (A) Recovery of LVDP, expressed as a percentage of the initial baseline pre-ischemic LVDP, was measured after 20 min of ischemia and 40 min of reperfusion in mouse hearts isolated 8 hr after inhalation exposure to FA (n = 8), mixtures (n = 7), or O3 (n = 6) for 4 hr as described in “Materials and Methods.“ (B) Infarct size, expressed as a percentage of the total ventricular section, was measured after 20 min of ischemia and 2 hr of reperfusion as described in “Materials and Methods.“ *p < 0.05, compared with FA control group by Kruskal–Wallis U-test followed by Dunn’s multiple comparison.
