Light-activated Eg5 inhibition in HeLa cells. CEg5-AA and its corresponding HIV TAT peptide conjugate CEg5-AA-TAT were added to the cell culture media. After an overnight incubation the cells were briefly irradiated (365 nm, 2 min) or kept in the dark. Negative (CNTRL) and positive (Eg5-AA) control antisense agents were transfected into HeLa cells. All cells were subsequently fixed and stained with FITC–phallodin and DAPI, and imaged using a Zeiss 710 confocal microscope (40x oil objective).
