Negatively stained two-dimensional crystals of the galactose/H+ transporter GalP. The crystals are large and highly ordered. Inset, Fourier transform of the image shows strong and sharp spots to ∼18Å resolution. The crystals are vesicular and two sets of spots can be seen in the Fourier transforms (squares and circles). These crystals are suitable for analysis by cryo-EM and electron crystallography because the crystals are large and the spots in the Fourier transforms are sharp and extend to the resolution limit in negative stain.
