Proposed mechanism for the protein nitration regulatory effects of VitD in brain based on recent literature and results from the current study. Results obtained from this study are marked with dark green arrows. The deficient serum levels of VitD in the low VitD group led in brain to decreased NF-κB in the cytosolic fraction, increased NF-κB in the nuclear fraction, iNOS elevation, increased protein tyrosine nitration, and elevations in mitochondrial and regulatory proteins.
