Inhibition of endothelial cell apoptosis by shear stress. After being exposed to shear stress for 24 hours (lanes 2 through 5 show shear stresses of 10, 15, 20, and 30 dyne/cm2, respectively), DNA fragmentation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells was analyzed by electrophoresis. Lanes 1 and 6 show a molecular marker and the static control endothelial cells, respectively.
