Cytokine-secreting splenocytes following challenge infection. Cytokine phenotypes (A) IFN-γ, (B) IL-2, (C) IL-4, and (D) IL-5 ELISPOT assays were performed using mouse splenocytes following challenge infection. Splenocytes were isolated at day 4 postchallenge and cytokine-secreting cells were determined after stimulation with inactivated A/PR8. Splenocytes from naïve or immunized mice in the absence of inactivated A/PR8 virus stimulator were used as background controls (Cell alone).
