One messenger RNA (RNA) ensures the synthesis of a protein, which can be converted into a repressor. This repressor down-regulates the synthesis of the RNA. By forming an inhibitory complex (RNA_i) with the RNA, the miRNA reduces the level of messenger RNA. We hypothesize that the same miRNA also binds to other messenger RNAs (ceRNAs): RNAs 2 and 3. Those RNAs encode their respective proteins: Proteins 2 and 3.
