One messenger RNA (RNA) ensures the synthesis of a protein, which can be converted into a repressor. This repressor down-regulates the synthesis of the RNA. By forming an inhibitory complex (RNAi) with the RNA, the miRNA reduces the level of messenger RNA. We hypothesize that the same miRNA also binds to other messenger RNAs (ceRNAs): RNAs 2 and 3. Those RNAs encode their respective proteins: Proteins 2 and 3.
