Experimental design: encoding phase. During each trial (12 s), children were asked to memorize faces presented (5 s), preceded and followed by a fixation cross (1000 ms). Then an image containing a “face part” was presented (5 s), and children were asked to indicate whether or not it belonged to the face presented immediately before. Faces were selected from the FACES database (Ebner et al., 2010).
