Basal promoter activity of reporter constructs containing haplotype I of the human AT₁R gene promoter is increased in H295R (A) and A7r5 (B) cells as compared with haplotype II. Basal promoter activity of reporter constructs containing either haplotype I or II was determined by transient transfection in H295R or A7r5 cells. Relative luciferase activity of the reporter construct containing haplotype I (solid bars) was calculated by assuming the luciferase activity of the reporter construct containing haplotype II (empty bars) as 1.
