Respiration of C. fasciculata wild-type and kap2/3−/− double-mutant cells. Oxygen consumption of logarithmically growing C. fasciculata wild-type and kap2/3−/− double-mutant cells was determined polarographically. Cyanide was added directly to cells at a final concentration of 1 mM at the time indicated. C. fasciculata wild-type and kap2/3−/− double-mutant cells consumed oxygen at rates of 25 and 9.8 nmol/min per 107 cells, respectively.
