Ybp1p and Ybh1p contribute to H₂O₂-induced expression of TRX2 but not GSH1. The isogenic series of strains described in the legend to Fig. 1 were transformed with low-copy-number vectors carrying either a TRX2-lacZ (top panel) or a GSH1-lacZ (bottom panel) fusion gene. Transformants were grown to mid-log phase, induced by H₂O₂ or diamide addition or left untreated (no stress), and allowed to grow for ∼1 h. The level of β-galactosidase produced in each transformant was then determined. Relevant genetic backgrounds are indicated as for Fig. 1. wt, wild type.
