The distribution of sex among these offspring was determined by χ2 analysis.
C57BL/6J mice showed no significant effect of sex distribution (P > 0.25).
DBA/2J mice did show a significant effect when the results for animals from all the litters were combined (P = 0.01), but no effect was seen when mice from the last four litters were analyzed separately (P > 0.25).
No significant effect was observed when both data sets were combined and analyzed (P = 0.25).
