Pulmonary lesions have been blindly observed and graded according to their severity from EIAV-positive (EIAVPOS) and EIAVnegative (EIAVNEG) horses. [A] described the presence of infiltrating lymphocytes. [B] described the type and the severity of (peri) bronchiolar inflammation; [C] described the thickness of the septa and its severity; * total histological score was calculated using the [(B + C)/2] formula. The histological score allows the ranking of the pulmonary disease where 0 to 0.4 means no lesions, 0.5-1.4 mild lesions, 1.5-2.4 moderate lesions and >2.4 severe lesions.
