(A) Increasing the fraction of PE in the outer leaflet of the GUV significantly decreased the nanotube radius compared to the control tube pulled from an SBL vesicle with a radius of 57±3 nm (n = 9) and 36±2 nm (n = 9) for tubes pulled from PE incubated vesicles. (B) Increasing the fraction of PC in the outer leaflet of the vesicle showed no significant effect on lipid nanotube radius with a control radius of 50±4 nm (n = 8) and a radius of 47±6 nm (n = 6) for PC incubated vesicles. Groups were tested for significant differences using a student's t-test. *** p<0.001 versus control. Results are presented as mean±SEM.
