Diagram of the phantom apparatus used to evaluate erosion rates. Water was pumped into and out of an acrylic cylinder, flexing the latex membrane top, creating motion along the axis of the cylinder. A gel or tissue sample was adhered over the center hole of a rigid mounting ring in the center of the latex top.
