The pattern contrast of the sinusoidally modulated stripes decreases from lower to upper, whereas spatial frequency increases from right to left. At a typical viewing distance (45–50 cm), the bars of the pattern should appear longest around one-third of the way between the left- and right-hand edges, revealing maximum contrast sensitivity around approximately three cycles per degree.
