Derivation of an immunohistochemical prognostic signature in GEPNETs based on Hif-1α and SSTR-2 expression status. Kaplan–Meier survival curves show that for patients with preserved SSTR-2 and low Hif-1α (i.e., no adverse prognostic factors, black line) median OS was not reached after a median follow up of 8.8 years. Patients with SSTR-2 loss and high Hif-1α expression (i.e., two adverse prognostic factors, grey dotted line) had a median survival of only 4.2 years. Patients with only one adverse prognostic factor (either SSTR-2 loss or elevated Hif-1α expression, grey continuous line) had a median OS of ∼10 years from diagnosis.
