Plants from SSwe/open habitats allocated more biomass to rhizomes than plants from NSwe/open habitats (P<0.05). Within the NSwe region, plants from shaded habitats tended to allocate more biomass to rhizomes than plants from open habitats (P = 0.055). Plants from NSwe/shaded habitats translocated more ¹⁴C to the rhizomes than plants from NSwe/open (P = 0.05) and SSwe/shaded (P = 0.05) habitats.
