Wing sweep is very effective at generating pitching moments. Forward sweep generates nose up moments, while backwards sweep generates nose down moments. This is like steering a wind surfing rig and is similar to what is seen in Anna's Hummingbird ( Calypte anna ) dive models (Evangelista, in preparation). This mode of control exhibits reversal at negative angle of attack and thus may be difficult to use around 0 angle of attack.
