(a) Results are for Aorta 3 (see Table 2) with PWV = 9.5 m/s and HR = 60 bpm. (b) Results are for Aorta 3 with PWV = 9.5 m/s and HR = 72 bpm. The control case is the aorta without an extra reflection site and the red line is the pulsatile power of the aorta without any rings (i.e. no extra reflection sites). The pulsatile power can increase or decrease compared to the control case (control is the aorta without the ring), the nature of which depends on the location of the ring. Each data point is the result of the respective experiment repeated nine times.
