B–D CF488A fluorescence maintained after phalloidin-CF488A-treated utricles were fixed as in (A), and then counterstained with Alexa Fluor 647 phalloidin. Permeabilizing the post-fixed tissue to stain with Alexa Fluor 647 phalloidin causes the CF488A fluorescence to become more diffuse. Scale bars in A–D are 20 μm.
